WhatsApp is now testing a locked chat feature for linked devices on Android to offer users an additional layer of privacy.

The Meta WhatsApp messaging platform has been constantly updated with new features and updates over the past few months. As part of a new development, the company is now testing the chat blocking feature for linked Android devices.

According to a new report by WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp Locked Chat Feature is available in the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.24.11.9. This feature is designed to provide users with an additional level of privacy for chat messages and ensure that their sensitive chats or their content are protected on other connected devices.

The report shows a screenshot showing some WhatsApp beta users being asked to set a secret code to open Locked Chat on the device. However, the passcode must be entered on the primary device and the locked status will be visible on other secondary connected devices.

Once the code is successfully installed, protected chats will disappear from the regular chat list on all linked devices and will only be accessible from the chat’s lock screen. Plus, the passcode syncs across all connected devices, so you can access these secure chats from any device.

This helps ensure privacy as these chats remain safe from being tracked by others even if your linked devices are accidentally visible or unlocked. The same report also states that this update is expected to be released to other beta testers in the coming weeks.
